This International Women’s Day, Aitken Spence Travels recognized and appreciated the remarkable impact of their female staff by engaging in an interactive workshop and knowledge share session specifically conducted to commemorate the day. The company currently has 127 females out of a 299-strong workforce.
This year’s IWD 2025 campaign theme was ‘Accelerate Action,’ and the objective was to collectively accelerate action for gender equality. Accordingly, it is believed that at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum. Focusing on the need to accelerate action emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
For the past eight years, the company has been hosting a celebratory event dedicated to the ladies of Travel. The day’s activities are specifically designed to honor and empower them. The unwavering support from the senior management has been instrumental in the success of this program thus far, which has seen entrepreneurs, conservationists, food nutritionists, and motivational speakers to leading ladies from the law enforcement.
This year, the focus was on personal grooming, featuring a session by the renowned hair and makeup maestro, Ramzi Rahaman. The interactive session included a live demonstration on a staff member, where Ramzi shared valuable tips on personal care, recommended products, and explained how to manage hair and makeup for the office. He also covered aspects of personal hygiene, selection of suitable clothing, colors, shoes, etc. The ladies engaged with Ramzi, clearing their doubts and gaining valuable insights.
Additionally, our very own general manager of marketing, Ms. Zaharine Hameen, conducted another educational session for the ladies. The day concluded with refreshments, delicious brownies, and plenty of photo opportunities, allowing the staff to capture memories of yet another successful event.
The company remains committed to supporting and championing programs like these for the ladies of Travel, ultimately contributing to a harmonious and inclusive work environment leading towards #Accelerated action.
